The Nigerian minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi will be the lead discussant for this week’s #DoMiningRight Twitter conference.
#DoMiningRight is a campaign championed by the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development as part of the activities to achieve the strategic objective of her project on “Strengthening Civic Engagement and Advocacy for Effective Natural Resource Governance in Nigeria” which is supported by the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA).
The overall objective of the “Tweeteractions” is to empower citizens with factual information to engage and advocate for effective natural resource governance in Nigeria as we seek to diversify the nation’s economy.
This week’s Twitter engagement is aimed at sustaining momentum for the drive for non-oil revenue, in the light of existing solid mineral reforms in Nigeria.
The topic of the Tweetchat, scheduled to hold on Friday October 21, 2016 from 12.00noon to 1.00PM is:
“Diversification of the Nigerian Economy: The Solid Mineral Option”
As a critical stakeholder who has the mandate of Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari to reposition the Mining sector to contribute optimally to the administration’s priority agenda of diversifying the country’s revenue base and creating jobs and economic opportunities for the young population, we are excited to host Dr. Kayode Fayemi to the Twitter chat to educate Nigerians further on the topic in this week’s Tweetchat.
